The Beta is out (I know I am a couple of weeks late), and you can get it from here. This upgraded version brings the rock out of Personal Computing. Immediately after installation, I was amaze by the speed the player startup. The startup speed of the Windows Media player of yesteryear has been the plague of it’s kind, but the plague has been cured. It now starts up as fast as winamp or any of those fast loading or small media player.
The second thing I noticed after the installation was the nice layout, I was initially hoping for some transparency like those previously captured screenshot, to my disappointment I couldn’t figured out how to turn that on, maybe no transparency till Vista. Nevertheless, the layout and variable color scheme sure looks stunning.
There are so much enhancements here and there that I couldn’t capture them all. Overall I love the look, the speed of startup and also speed of decoding codecs (previously I need to wait a couple of minutes to play movies, but now, within seconds the player kicks in). Usability rating also increased with highly customizable view options and also drag and drop features of creating playlist and album art. Get it, you will love it. The only caveat is that it is Beta, so expect some bugs…
On this day..
