Unique Chinese Restaurant

Soon Kee Restaurant at Kuala Terengganu China Town is unique in its way of serving tea. I have not seen any restaurant in Malaysia that serves tea this way. We came across this shop while searching for dinner. At night the shop serves “Bak Kut The”, Malaysian Herbal Pork Soup. Once you make your order at the guy manning the soup pot, another lady brings the little teapot and a bag of tea. Everything is DIY from this point. We tore the tea bag apart and emptied half the bag into the tiny teapot. Hot water can be obtained at the water station located at selected strategic locations. And the tea is served with again, tiny little tea cups, which only two cups can make a mouth full, and no wonder every table comes with so many tiny cups. It was a wonderful experience, certainly I have not seen anything like this anywhere else in Malaysia. Unfortunately, I can’t say the same for the food, it is bluntly average, and more expensive than Penang. Maybe there was a tourist tax, nevertheless, the shop is interesting in its way of serving tea.
