One screwup over another, Maxis Iphone 3GS

First, Maxis Called me, telling me the iPhone 3Gs I’ve ordered will be delayed till Tuesday next week.  I was suppose to pick up the phone at launch tomorrow.  They did not have enough units for all the subscribers, and so they decided to give what they have to the people in KL.  Folks like me from the north will have to wait till next Tuesday.  I thought it would be better to give based on who ordered first.  Those buggers from KL who ordered on the last day would get first than me… does not sounds fair to me.

Ok, someone screw up somewhere, those who pre-ordered from the north will not get the phones tomorrow.  If like this, why get people to pre-order and promise to deliver on 31st July? Now, its been delay, only ‘I’m Sorry’ from someone who was not responsible does not seam to be comforting enough.

Fine, the unit got delayed, what can we do rite, so that’s that.

Then, at dinner time, I got another call, oh, its been delayed to Wednesday, instead of Tuesday… wow, seams like this is getting worst by the minute.  Ok, this time, the Maxis guy  said they are working some ‘Mystery Gift’ out.  Oh, if you are giving me some merchandize with your logo on it, I am not interested.  An original iPhone accessory would only do justice.

So, ok lor, delay already, another day push out, what can we do at our end.. I was already starting to be depress…

Then, when I check my mail just now, I got a mail from Maxis.  I thought they were nice to send me a mail of apology of the delay.  Oh wait, my name ain’t Ng It Cheng… Another screw up.

They can’t get the date right, now they can’t even get my name right, well, they mix up me and other customer.  That’s Maxis for you… And they are going for IPO?

Oh by the way, Maxis says, it is worldwide shortage, so it is because of Apple late delivery…

I still thought Maxis should have handled the ‘crisis’ better.  Firstly, offer apology and offer something nice to the customer for the mixup.  Secondly, if you are going to commit a new date, make sure it is right, and not to push out again a couple of hours later.  Finally, get your customer name right.

Update:

Finally on Aug 2nd, I got a call from the collection center to come collect.  Got my unit, got yellowish tint as reported by many Low Yat forumers and no crack on the white body.  The collection process was about 45 minutes without hassle, just need to wait for the guy to do his thing behind the counter.  Confirm the package, the unit, confirm the Imei number, lock it in and unbox the unit.

I also faced this problem. They called me to ask me to collect it on the 4 Aug at first. Then later evening, received an sms saying on the 5 Aug.. and later again received an email.. but not attention to me.. what is this all about with Maxis ? A big company but can’t manage thing / event well. Wat a mess.

my guess they hv the wrong name is that they so lazy to even change the name in the email. probably the same email sent to lots of people.

i did not have any appology calls or watsoever. instead i have to call them and ask.. the only answer i have is stock not arrive. din hav an exact time or date for the arrival. only thing is jus ask me wait till dono when. worst still he told me priority goes to whom that sign for the maxis plan. not hotlink >.<

bodoo punya maxis… stupid and un profesional action from maxis… when u archieve the target at pre booking just stop taken new booking… simple as ABC… maybe u want tarik lot people to joins ur network ek? ek? piraaah…. anyone got mcmc no.? i suggest u all just complaint to mcmc…

At least you got calls. I did the registration crap, paid the deposit on the first day i could, about 3 weeks ago. I didnt even get a date, no time frame what so ever. What sort of a way of doing business is this. MAXIS ARE A F**KING JOKE!! I mean how hard is it, i thought the whole point in registering was so they knew what they needed for launch day, and if they didnt have enough, then they shouldnt have told everyone they would be getting it. Its not rocket science, just good business

I knew sth was wrong when there was only one guy running to the place I was supposed to collect my iPhone. Where’s everyone else???! Apparently what happened is that m/axis-of-evil pulled a substantial number of iPhones from the resellers so that their retail outlets will be fully stocked and those *effin* retail customers will walk out to happily to the press. One lady I spoke to even said that someone from maxis told her to take back her deposit with the reseller and collect hers at a maxis outlet. Idiots at maxis should have stopped the bloody registration once they hit the maximum number of customers for the minimum number of iPhones they could deliver. Effin maxis 4ever overpromise and under-deliver. Just coz they are the only telco in M’sia to carry the iPhone, they think they can push us around like this. EFF maxis!

I didnt even get a call or sms to let me know that i couldn’t collect my iphone which i have pre-booked and paid.

I gave them hell at maxis centre..now, this manager at the centre says i might get it on aug 18, which i told him, better not or else I will give maxis hell.

He will call me today to confirm

me also. i ordered on the 2nd day of “pre-book”. i booked at maxis centre at alor setar (star parade). everyday i call them, they promise to call me back, but they didn’t. what they said to me often actually “i will call you back when it’s arrive”. at least i want them to tell me when. i ordered black 16gb 3gs. and until now, i still don’t get my iphone. why must i pre-book if i get it so late? i wanna book it because i want to get it early. “the unit will be available while stock last” konon…. maybe next time i will not pre-book. i’ll wait after it’s launch..and one more, i’m not take any plan, i’ll pay it cash, maybe that’s why? damn u maxis..and damn all of you, maxis stuff or whatever..

I pre book at Maxis MEP in Penang 2 week ago till this monday still cant get my iphone so i screw the promoter up site down till he refund the deposit to me. And some more he told the prtice is different he charge me RM2650 instead of RM2490 for HotLink plan. haizzzz

Maxis service really really BADDDDDD!!!!!!

Well what is worse is that now Maxis only allows those who sign up contacts to make a booking. Yes that is right. The hotlink plan and iData 1 (no contact) have been abolished. I would say plain discrimination and blood sucker. What is the point that they rolled out the Hotlink plan and published scam like “Choose a data plan for as low as RM 30 with your existing postpaid plan and you’ll enjoy the iPhone at special prices.”, when they only allow BOOKING for contracts. By the way, you don’t enjoy iPhone at special prices if you take up iData 1 (RM30). You are paying the full retail price. Total scam!!!
Yes you may prioritise the contact takers but at least give us a “right” to place an order and stop telling us to wait for 2 months until there are surplus in the supplies. We all know that iPhone’s product cycle is only one year, if we were to take up let say in end Sept, ¾ of the product cycle is only then remaining. Btw there are rumours that an 8GB iPhone 3gs is on the way in Sept. Maxis really screwed up everything they do. SIGH…..

oh gosh.. after reading all the comments above.. i starting to fear that i have to wait for my iphone 3gs which i order on 10th Aug to arrive for more than 1 month?? WTH!!? plus something silly about Maxis is when i wanna to pay the full price even though i have to wait for my iphone.. the maxis staff refuse and they only wan deposit =.= weird huh?

WindCaster, there is no reason to fear that you will get your phone late, since you have ordered, keep following up with them on the delivery date… Maxis has screwup on the first delivery date, and if they have learnt from that experience, they should not have repeated it. If they do… then we have nothing to say..

Any lawyers out there? may be we can sue the pants of maxis for the delay…class action suit :P
