It still writes well, although I have made two changes to it over the years: Added a gold nib, for extra flexibility ($20, back in 1986!); and Sanded down the sharp edges on the grip portion of the barrel. I don't think I have anything else purchased in 1986 that is still giving me daily service! Although I own high end Parkers and Pelikans, I remain fond of my Lamy Safari, now some 25 years old.
