After using my new Lamy Safari for some time, I come to love the way it feel to write. I decided to get one for my friend and another for my wife. However, majority of the retailers carry Medium or Bold Nib. We on the other hand love the fine or extra fine nib. So I email Lamy Malaysia to ask to know who are the rest of the retailers in Penang (so that I can go check them out). Instead of giving me the list of retailers, they ask what I was looking for to help me narrow down my search. After I convey that I am looking for a specific Safari Model (color) and nib, they mention that none of the retailers carry the pen that I was looking for (based on their sales log). They can sell me the pen and offer to courier me the pen at no extra charge. I thought it was nice of them to do so. Oh, but the way, I was most surprise when my mail to them were replied within 30 minutes.

Although I own high end Parkers and Pelikans, I remain fond of my Lamy Safari, now some 25 years old.
It still writes well, although I have made two changes to it over the years:
Added a gold nib, for extra flexibility ($20, back in 1986!); and
Sanded down the sharp edges on the grip portion of the barrel.
I don’t think I have anything else purchased in 1986 that is still giving me daily service!
