When I bought air conditioning for my bedroom, I wanted a fan that could automatically turn on at a certain hour. When we sleep, we do not let the air conditioning run the whole night. Partly driven by cost and mostly, after sleeping for a few hours, the body temp controls shuts down, and the small airflow is sufficient to keep us sound asleep.

I scouted the market and found that this Panasonic Fan (F-MY143) to be the only model that offers ‘on-timer’. The fan has 3 speed, low, med & high and offers 2, 4 & 8 hours of sleep mode & on-timer. For the sleep mode, the fan will automatically shut off at either 2, 4 or 8 hours and contrarily it will turn on at either 2, 4 or 8 hours with the on-timer.

Initially, when I saw it was a 5 blade fan, I thought the airflow would be powerful. I was expecting this device to churn up a hurricane in my room. But to my utter disappointment, the 5 blade was more of a decorations and the highest speed does not even match my 3 blade fan setting at level 3, especially at a much needed hot afternoon. My Rm99 3 blade fan could do a much better job than this RM269 fan. Initially I hated this fan for the price and the low powered airflow, however, as I start using the on-timer, I start to appreciate the functionality of this fan. The fan is evidently designed for use with air condition. This is a good fan to complement your air condition room, especially the bedroom, but is a lousy fan for any other uses. A sub RM100 3 blade fan could do much better.
