I just came back from Borders Queensbay and they currently have a sale where if you purchase RM50 or more, you can purchase the imported calenders for only RM5. The calender or diaries have been priced above RM50 previously and they are currently clearing the stock at just RM5 each.
On this Valentine Saturday, the streets were busy and most of all, Queensbay Mall was pack with people. Starbucks over at Borders were filled, not an empty seat in sight, and the entire mall was just buzzling with people. I was wondering, what economic crisis? 1/2 a million of people lost their jobs in the US, life goes on as usual in Malaysia. After all, we are half the world away.
Nevermind the countless factories that have implemented pay cuts by cutting the operation hours, nevermind the few factories that shuts down, displacing the Penang workforce. Roses, bears and couple T’shirts still warms up smiling faces this Valentine Day. What’s a couple of bucks spent, after all, many still earns a decent living.
So I ask myself, what economic crisis? The government seams to be bullish about it and the consumers seams to be fuelling it. So, what economic crisis I ask?
These few days, Najib keep saying that the minorities will not be marginalize and urge everyone to work together. So far, all this is just talk, and I have not seen any affirmative actions that work towards this. Its one thing to ask people to work together, its another to get them to work together. I for one is not impress by any lip services and as long as there are no affirmative actions from the BN side, I am not at all impress nor trust the existing regime. My trust and support in the past have been violated, and it will take more than a lip service to gain my attention.
Well, its not so much of the common cold, but rather an infection of the throat, fever, phlegm, and being stone all day…
