Last friday, there was a huge sale over at Queensbay Jusco. Seed clothes were going up to 70% of discount. I picked a few, went for XL and it was all fine. XL, a nice upgrade from M about 5 years ago. Then I spoted some nice suit from Seed. There were 20% discount over them and I wanted to get them. The cutting were nice and fit nicely for me. The first real shocker came when i find that I can’t button the L sized jacket. L was the largest size they had for Jackets and it fit me nicely, except that I could not button them. This is when I start to realize how humongus my waist is. Spirit dampen, I left the mall telling myself that I got to loose weight. I didnt think much about it, till about a couple of hours ago, I went to a Yoga class with my wife. While doing all the bending and streatching, I notice my belly on the gigantic mirror in front of me. My belly looked like having a huge humvee tyre wraping over it. Its so huge that it starts to gross me out. This is the second weight shocker within a week. I guess it is time to take some drastic move, yes, that’s right, time to go Jogging. Its just that the stray dogs around my home, maybe they could be a motivation to run faster. I don’t think I can out run them, atleast for now. Nevertheless, never try never know… haha..
I have been resistance in joning any social network sites for quite some time, mainly because they are ugly (MySpace), boring and not many of my friends are on them anyway. Recently, my sister inlaw start to upload all her baby photos to myspace, and I register to view them. Within seconds, I lost hours tinkering my profile and adding friends. And then, there are the endless applications, that are attached to facebook. Even my serious ex-boss friend also play facebook, to my surprise, I have quite a numbe of old friends on facebook. I have been trying not to add too much apps or entertain fight request, as they suck up just too much time. Anyway, if you are an old friend on facebook, look me up, keep in touch….. facebook me..
I have been in the company for almost 3 weeks now, and I have not seen a single techqie yet. I have seen quite a lot of fasionable people, but none that are hung up on gadgets nor computers. I was working with one of the manufacturing expert asking her if she has found the thumb scanner next to the laptop screen useful? And her response was like, eh, what’s that thing? When I explain what it was, I can see the amazement on her eyes that her 1 year old laptop has this feature. I have also notice that 50% of the population uses WinXP default theme and color scheme, and 50% of the population uses the windows classic look. I was surprise that they know how to use the window classic to speed up their computer. I was in a discussion with one of the program manager and I commented him on how smart he is to use windows classic to speed up the laptop. He noted that he was thought to do it by someone, but didn’t know the purpose. Anyway, his laptop was only a little over a year old, and didn’t need the speed boost anyway. Everyone seams to use the computer for its intention and none did any personalization. None has any sticker on their laptop as well. How boring. Well, this is going to change. I will be the first to have stickers and the minute I get my new laptop, I will pimp it up with OSx theme. Lets see if I manage to get some heads turn and poison them to modify the desktop like I did with my previous company.
I have to stress the importance of back up. Even if you have the computer for fun, there are occasions, you will safe important files and information on y our hard drive. With viruses and spyware everywhere, a regularly backed up computer will suffer little to no loss. From my personal experience, I once had a virus that crashed the computer, fortunately for me, I backed up my data nightly while I sleep at 12 midnight. I loose little to no files. The only thing I lost was the 2 hours of work on a presentation which was done earlier in the day before the crash. Fortunately for me, what I did the day before was still there, and I was very easy for me to pick up and redo it. In the old days, I have applications that save information into a backup drive. Now a days, with broadband, backup online is one of the most secure way to keep your information. Best of all, it is very affordable. Idrive.com offers free 2GB of backup space and for as little as $4.95 a month or $49.50 a year, you can have unlimited backup space. Different from other online backup companies, idrive.com is extremely efficient, the speed is so much faster than their competitors. They also offer map drive support that others don’t and among other features that others don’t offer are like proxy support, free telephone support, shared drive of folders for collaborative access and much more. I had a good experience with idrive.com, come and experience it yourself. Backup your computer, is as important as wearing a seatbelt in your car, and idrive.com is the seat belt provider of choice.
