Just got a call from MPH that the Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Price will be release this Saturday and my pre-oder is available at either Gurney Plaza MPH or Gurney Tower MPH. Both will open at 7.30am on Saturday morning specially for this release. This got me all excited, till the lady on the phone says the book price for Malaysia has been set by the publisher to be RM99.90. Since I have paid already the RM70, will need to bring another RM29.90 when I collect the book this weekend. What a rip off. I have only myself to blame for making the order in the first place. I guess the lesson learnt in the previous Order of the Phoenix release was easily forgotten. I should have waited for a few months where the book will be significantly cheaper, and most of all, J.K Rowling was very disappointing on the previous book. The only consolation is that the receipt is still tax deductible.
I was going through my bills last night and came across Maxis and Streamyx. Both has individual attractive offer in them. Starting with Maxis, for maxis customers only, a free Adidas backpack plus 2 year annual fee waiver when one Citibank credit card is approved. If two Citibank credit card is approved, a Black and Decker cordless screwdriver plus 2 years annual fee waived will be given free. And if you are a Maxis One Club member, you will enjoy an additional year of annual fee waived. Wow, what a generous offer, I proclaim myself.
Then when I pop open the Streamyx bill, out came another offer. This time, the free gift is a choice between a 64mb thumb drive or a Trolley and Duffle bag set. It also came with a 2 years annual fee waived offer and along with the following benefits. (Maxis offer also have the same benefits)
- Easy monthly bill payment with MEPS Interbank GIRO via participating local banks nationwide.
- 24-hour access to your account via CitiPhone banking and Citibank Online banking.
- 1-hour card replacement with zero liability for lost and stolen cards.
- Rewards points that never expire.
- Citibank World Privileges with offers and discounts of up t 55% and preferential treatment at over 25,000 places worldwide.
I remember a few years ago, Citibank was at every shopping malls haggering people to apply their credit card. Some of my friends were part of that workforce. Now all the other local banks has mimic that model and can be found at the local Tesco competing among each others. Now looks like Citibank has a new marketing model, soliciting Telco customers, and maybe more that I dont know of. Nevertheless, Citibank has manage to step ahead of the local banks again, and we can start to expect more of these kinds of offer in the near future, and from other banks too. I think I will just take up the Citibank-Maxis offer looks attractive

Ah… wireless seams to find it’s way to everything connected. I wonder when the wireless frequency bandwidth will run out. Also when we will have wireless power supply, this would be the giant leap forward for wireless technology.
Until then, Ipod users can now enjoy bluetooth wireless headphone from logitech for a whoping USD149. Is it worth it?
Ipod owners, if you are bored of the white plastic that your ipod comes with, you can try to void your warranty and make yourself a wooden cover.
If only Ipods are made like Nokia Phones, snap on covers, it will open a whole new market for Ipod Accessories….
